Blog Entry #024 – Jay Dubz & H2Flo

Jay Dubz
Originally from Wolverhampton and now living in the picturesque town of Shrewsbury, Jay Dubz continues to push his sound to the like-minded.

DJing for just shy of 20 years, his roots come from pirate radio sub-culture where he got his first break on legendary Midlands based pirate station Dimension FM in 2003 at the age of 15. He then went on to found Midlands Rush with Naypan in 2006 – a station specifically catering for quality Underground sounds.

In 2011 he co-founded Shrewsbury based night Perception alongside head promoter Bazland and resident DJ Conspire which brought acts like Goldie, LTJ Bukem, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Lenzman, Fabio, Grooverider, Bryan G, Jumping Jack Frost, Furney and many more to liven up Shrewsbury in the event’s spiritual home The Vaults and The Buttermarket respectively.

His production venture started in 2017 after CPH popped round one night for a brew and ended in creating Shadow of the Past, a co-lab which was released on Scott Allen’s Soul Deep Recordings imprint. From then on, co-labs and solo releases have been flowing on imprints including Lunar, Influence, Smooth N Groove and more.

He continues to DJ over the UK, pushing his sound which isn’t strictly pigeon holed by any certain sub-genre, so long as it has a vibe and is bass-ridden. He also hosts the Onward Show on Bassdrive.com which airs every second and fourth Friday of the Month, 7-9PM UK time and 1-3PM CDT.
